I've just discovered a web site that features exclusively composers of African descent. Over 40 composers are listed on the site with bios and lists of their works.

It's called africlassical.com, and you can access it by clicking here.

Good news/bad news for classical radio

2/20/2017

The good news for classical music on radio is that New Orleans has a new classical outlet at 104.9 FM.  It's only a translator--not a full-power station--but it's a start.

The bad news is that commercial classical station WBACH in Portland, Maine is no more.  It was rather unceremonially pulled off the air over the weekend.

You can read about the New Orleans station here.

You can read about the Maine station here.

Making beautiful music together

I'm not sure how long cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han have been married, but suffice it to say that they've been making beautiful music together for quite a while.  Coming up on Valentine's Day, the couple will be on Facebook Live for a Q&A session, hosted by The Violin Channel.

You can learn more at the couple's web site by clicking here.
