Keith Jarrett made his name first as a jazz pianist later crossing over into classical music.  His last public performance was in 2017.  He suffered a stroke in February of 2018, and another in May of that year.  He was temporarily paralyzed, and now struggles to walk with a cane, and can only play with one hand.

Jarrett has suffered a number of ailments in his life, including chronic fatigue syndrome which he began to experience in the late 1990s.

The Guardian has more on the story here.  And the New York Times goes more in depth here.
