You may remember that the Metropolitan Opera fired longtime conductor James Levine over misconduct allegations in 2018 after an investigation found that the allegations had merit. Levine responded with a lawsuit claiming breach of contract and defamation. The MET countersued.

That case was settled out of court last week. Details of the settlement are undisclosed.

The New York Times writes about it here.

Placido Domingo is the most recent high profile musician to face allegations of sexual abuse. Nine women have come forward to accuse Domingo of offering jobs to singers and withholding them if they refused his advances, and more.

AP has a detailed article on the subject here.

This is in the wake of recent allegations that have surfaced regarding the Curtis Institute of Music. Former Curtis student and well-known violinist Lara St. John brought long rumored allegations against her former teacher to light. A number of other former students have related similar experiences, but St. John is the most visible.
