When you think of important violin concertos, probably those of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms and others from the 19th century come to mind. But there were a number of concertos of significance composed in the 20th century. Violinist Gil Shaham has chosen to feature four of them on his concert tours this season.
Gil will be playing the Britten Violin Concerto thie summer with the Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra of the USA on their inaugural tour. In addition to appearing at Carnegie Hall, they'll be performing at Tanglewood (July 24), Grant Park (July 28), and Disney Hall in LA (Aug. 4).
In addition this summer, Gil will be playing the Bartok 2nd, the Barber, and the Prokofiev 2nd violin concertos with various orchestras around the country.
