Juilliard joins Restart Stages at Lincoln Center with Juilliard NOW featuring free music, dance, and drama performances. Restart Stages is a sweeping initiative that creates an outdoor performing arts center to kickstart the return of live performances. In this time of renewal and reopening in New York City, Juilliard NOW presents the next generation of performing artists at Lincoln Center as well as pop-up performances around New York City.
“We greatly look forward to joining Lincoln Center and our colleagues across the campus in this artistic celebration of New York City’s revival,” Juilliard’s president, Damian Woetzel, said. “Our students have demonstrated the resilience that is at the heart of our extraordinary city as they have excitingly transferred their artistry to virtual stages, including in our recent launch of Juilliard LIVE. But nothing compares to the vital importance of performing before live audiences, and we can’t wait for our reconnection in the weeks to come.”
Juilliard NOW—the school’s offerings in Restart Stages and elsewhere—kicks off Wednesday, May 12, at 1pm, with an open house showcasing performances by Juilliard acting students and jazz, chamber, and brass ensembles. A full list of performances appears below. They feature student artists from across all the school’s college divisions—dance, drama, and music—as well as the Preparatory Division, and they take place every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and some evenings and weekends. Additional pop-up performances will take place in the Alice Tully Hall Lobby, with sound amplified outside for passersby on Broadway. The pop-up concerts will be unannounced.
