Take the case of Pierre Roy, former principal oboe for the Buffalo Philharmonic. Reportedly a highly talented musician, he became so difficult to work with that he was fired by the orchestra. Among his antics were belittling other musicians, deliberately playing off-key or off tempo, and more. At one point, the orchestra even installed a plexiglass screen between Roy and the principal flutist so there would be no contact between the two.
